Team Overview:

The Regulatory Engagement Management team at JPMorgan Chase, part of the Regulatory Strategy function, manages regulatory examinations and other engagements conducted by a variety of banking and securities regulators. Engagement types include regulatory examinations, focused reviews, ongoing supervision and monitoring, and ad hoc meetings and queries. As the Regulatory Strategy Lead-Vice President you will manage exams and reviews.

Job Responsibilities:

The Regulatory Strategy Lead, a Vice President-level role, will help drive the firm's relationships with regulators, by managing exams and reviews, coordinating and preparing for ongoing supervisory meetings, and coordinating responses to regulatory requests. The Vice President will also provide strategic advice and regular updates to management regarding the matters being handled, including, but not limited to, the timely escalation and resolution of potential issues.

  • Manage examinations by regulators covering various businesses, functions and topics
  • Prepare business personnel for meetings with regulators
  • Prepare substantive written responses to regulatory requests and examination reports
  • Coordinate and prepare for the recurring ongoing supervision meetings between the various AWM businesses and their regulators
  • Communicate extensively (orally and in writing) and develop effective relationships with regulators
  • Establish and develop effective relationships within the lines of business and functions, across the three lines of defense
  • Analyze and summarize information/documentation responsive to regulatory requests
  • Communicate with the relevant businesses and functions regarding regulatory issues, findings by the regulators, and remediation related to those findings
  • Proactively identify potential regulatory risks, escalating through proper channels with the ability to recommend solutions to key stakeholders
  • Provide periodic regulatory engagement status updates and contribute to internal reporting and tracking related to various engagements and regulatory findings

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills:
  • 5+ years of experience at a large financial institution, regulator, or law firm leading regulatory engagements; experience in the financial services industry preferred
  • BA/BS or similar degree required
  • Experience in risk management, control management, Compliance, Audit and/or operational risk, and applicable rules and regulations, and the ability to learn new areas while supporting them
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and to work collaboratively on teams of varying size
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, solid judgment, and the ability to evaluate complex regulatory business issues
  • Client service skills: the candidate must demonstrate the judgment and ability to closely partner with and advise senior and line managers and other stakeholders on regulatory interactions

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, leadership and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Project management skills and ability to manage multiple work streams involving different partners and groups
  • A creative thinker who can solve problems and offer viable solutions to push forward business and firm initiatives
